A DETAILED ITINERARY FOR A 5-DAY TANZANIA CAMPING SAFARI

ARRIVE IN TANZANIA
You will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and taken to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. You will meet your driver-guide, who will brief you about your upcoming 5-day Tanzania Camping safari. Afterwards, you can rest until the following morning.

DAY 1: ARUSHA – TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK
Non-game-viewing travel time: 1:40 hours
Distance: 110.33km
After breakfast, you will be picked up to visit Tarangire National Park for a game drive. The park features diverse landscapes, including the Tarangire River, and is known for its large elephant herds and rare species like the Greater Kudu and Fringed-eared Oryx. It also boasts over 400 bird species. A picnic lunch will be provided, followed by continued game driving until evening, ending with dinner and an overnight stay at Tarangire Campsite.

DAY 2: TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK – SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Non-game viewing travel time: 4 hours.
Distance: 242 km.
After breakfast, we exit Tarangire and head towards Serengeti National Park, passing through the beautiful high-lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa – Serengeti National Park – where endless plains stretch as far as the eye can see. We proceed to the park's central region, known as the Seronera area, which is one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. This area features the Seronera River, providing a vital water source that attracts representatives of many Serengeti species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park, followed by dinner and overnight at Tumbili public camp.

DAY 3: SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
The day will be spent on a game drive in the Serengeti, with areas visited depending on the location of migrating herds. Herds move from the north hills to the south plains during the short rainy season (November to December) and return to central Serengeti during the more extended rainy season (April to June). From July to October, they are found in North Serengeti. The migration pattern is influenced by rainfall, but the guide will know where to find the animals. In addition to wildebeests and zebras, predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, and the big five can be spotted. Dinner and overnight stay at Tumbili public campsite.

DAY 4: SERENGETI - NGORONGORO CRATER
Non-game-viewing travel time: 2 hours.
Distance: 147 km
After breakfast, we continue with the game drive until lunchtime. After lunch, we head to Ngorongoro for the night. On the way, we can experience the traditional Maasai lifestyle and learn about their culture in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Dinner and overnight at Simba Campsite

DAY 5: NGORONGORO CRATER – ARUSHA/JRO
Non-game viewing travel time: 3 hours
Distance: 181.21 km.
After breakfast, we will descend over 600 meters into the crater for a half-day safari tour. Supported by a year-round water supply and abundant fodder, Ngorongoro National Park hosts a diverse array of wildlife, including herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffalo, eland, warthogs, hippos, and giant African elephants, as well as a high population of predators such as lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. This park is also known for having more visible black rhinos than any other park. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner, which is one of the crater's main features and serves as a home for flamingos and hippos. Apart from its animals, the park boasts a stunning landscape with its beautiful caldera. We will have lunch at the picnic site, and in the afternoon, after lunch, we will depart Ngorongoro Crater and drive back to Arusha.
