A DETAILED ITINERARY FOR THE 5-DAY TANZANIA WILDLIFE SAFARI

Arrive in Tanzania

Once you arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and are transferred to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, you will meet our guide, who will brief you on your upcoming 5-day Tanzania wildlife safari.

Day 1: Moshi / Arusha - Tarangire National Park

- Non-game-viewing travel time: 3 hours.

- Distance: 210 km.

After breakfast, you will be met by our guide/driver, who will deliver a short briefing before heading into Tarangire National Park for a game drive. The park stretches along the Tarangire River and primarily consists of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly includes Acacia woodland and giant African Baobab trees, with extensive swamp areas in the south. The river and the swamps act like magnets for wild animals during the dry season. Tarangire National Park is known for containing some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This national park also has three rare species: The Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings. We will have lunch at a picnic site, after which we will continue the game drive until late evening, then drive to our accommodation for the night. Dinner and overnight stay are at an accommodation booked in the package.

Day 2: Tarangire - Serengeti National Park

- Non-game-viewing travel time: 4 hours.

- Distance: 205 km.

After breakfast, we head towards Serengeti National Park, passing through the beautiful highland farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with its endless plains rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We proceed to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park, featuring the Seronera River, which provides a vital water source for this region and attracts a diverse array of wildlife representative of most Serengeti species. We arrive in time for lunch and enjoy an afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park. Dinner and overnight stay at an accommodation booked as part of the package.

Day 3: Serengeti Plains

Experience a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti Plains, offering a unique view of wildlife and stunning landscapes. After the ride, enjoy a game drive along the Sogore River Circuit, known for sightings of lions, gazelles, and cheetahs. Visit the Visitor Centre near Serengeti Seronera Lodge for wildlife displays, a gift shop, and a picnic area. Enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch under acacia trees. In the afternoon, explore the Kopjes Circuit, where you can spot lions and other wildlife around the granite outcrops. Dinner and overnight accommodation are included in the package.

Day 4: Serengeti Plains - Ngorongoro Crater

-Non-game-viewing travel time: 4 hours.

- Distance: 145 km.

After breakfast, we continue with the game drive until lunchtime. After lunch, we head to Ngorongoro for the night. On the way, we can experience the Maasai traditional life and a few of these cultural people's lives in the Ngorongoro conservations. Dinner and overnight accommodation are booked on the package.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater - Arusha / Moshi

-Non-game-viewing travel time: 4 hours.

-Distance: 210 km.

After breakfast, we will descend over 600 meters into the crater to observe wildlife during a half-day safari tour. Supported by a year-round water supply and abundant fodder, Ngorongoro National Park hosts various animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippos, and giant African elephants. Another major attraction of this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, which includes lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake located in the southwestern corner, one of the main features of the crater. Many flamingos, hippos, and other water birds are usually seen here. After lunch, we will ascend from the crater and return to Moshi.

Depart Tanzania

The day is free to wind down after the safari before your flight home. Depending on flight times, you could explore Moshi town and grab some souvenirs before heading to the airport.
