Arrive in Tanzania
You will be picked up at Kilimanjaro International Airport and taken to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. You will meet our guide there, who will brief you on your upcoming 6-day Wildlife and adventure safari.
Day 1: Moshi / Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park
-Non-game-viewing travel time: 2- hours
-Distance: 130 km.
We will pick it up from Arusha and transfer it to Lake Manyara National Park. We will arrive at the lodge on time for lunch, and after lunch, we will head into Lake Manyara National Park for an afternoon game drive. This national park is one of Tanzania's most dramatically located wildlife areas, consisting of a massive but shallow soda lake that covers two-thirds of the park at the foot of the Great Rift Valley's western escarpment. The park's varied habitat attracts a wide variety of animals, including one of Africa's largest concentrations of elephants, Lake Manyara's unique tree-climbing lions, and large flocks of flamingos attracted by the algae in the lake. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be provided according to the standard and type of accommodation booked for the trip.
Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti Plains
-Non-game-viewing travel time: 6 hours
-Distance: 250 km
After breakfast, we head toward Serengeti National Park, passing through the stunning high-lying farmland of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Leaving the highlands behind, we descend into the heart of wild Africa- the Serengeti National Park- with its endless plains rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. We make our way to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park. The Seronera River, which flows through this region, provides a valuable water source, thus attracting a diverse range of wildlife representative of most Serengeti species. We arrive in time for lunch and look forward to an afternoon game drive in Serengeti National Park.
Day 3: Serengeti Plains
Be one of the few fortunate people to glide in a hot air balloon over the Serengeti Plains (available at an additional cost by pre-arrangement). Floating silently above the awakening bush, you can spot wildlife and enjoy the stunning scenery of Africa, including rivers and numerous small villages. We will embark on a game-viewing drive along the Sogore River Circuit, which loops into the plains south of the Seronera River, providing opportunities to see lions, Thomson gazelles, topis, ostriches, and cheetahs. The Visitor Centre near the Serengeti Seronera Lodge and public campsites are well worth a visit after the morning game drive. This thoughtfully designed centre features interesting wildlife displays and a gift shop that sells information leaflets and maps of the area. The centre also has a shop to purchase cold drinks and snacks, a picnic area, and an information trail that winds around a nearby kopje. We will enjoy a relaxed picnic lunch at the centre, under the shade of the giant acacia trees. In the afternoon, we will follow the Kopjes Circuit, which goes counterclockwise around the Maasai Kopjes, known for attracting various lions and some impressively large cobras. Kopjes are weathered granite outcrops scattered across the plains, many of which form miniature ecosystems, providing shade and drinking water in pools left in the rock after the rains. This makes the kopjes particularly good for spotting wildlife in the dry season, including lions that like to lie in wait for animals coming to drink! Dinner and overnight will be as per the standard and type of accommodation booked trip.
Day 4: Serengeti Plains - Ngorongoro Crater
- Non-game-viewing travel time: 4 hours
-Distance: 145 km.
After breakfast at the lodge, we depart for the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. We will stop at Olduvai Gorge, which boasts a history dating back to the dawn. It was here that anthropologists Drs. Lois and Mary Leakey discovered the skulls of Nutcracker Man and Handy Man, both significant links in the chain of human evolution. We arrive in time for lunch at the lodge, and after lunch, we will descend over 600 meters into the crater to view wildlife during a half-day safari tour. Supported by a year-round water supply and ample fodder, Ngorongoro National Park sustains various animals, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthogs, hippos, and giant African elephants. Another major attraction of this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which sometimes requires a trained eye to spot. We will visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwestern corner and one of the main features of the crater. Many flamingos, hippos, and other water birds are usually seen here. Dinner and overnight accommodations will be provided per the requested standard and type of accommodation option.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire National Park
-Non-game-viewing travel time: 3 hours
-Distance: 155 km
After breakfast, we depart for Tarangire National Park. The park runs along the Tarangire River and primarily consists of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor. Its natural vegetation mainly includes Acacia woodlands and giant African Baobab trees, with extensive swamp areas in the south. The river and the swamps are a magnet for wild animals during Tanzania's dry season. Tarangire National Park is renowned for housing some of the largest elephant herds in Africa. This national park also has three rare animal species: The Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings. After a picnic lunch, we embark on an afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight accommodations are provided per the standard and type of booked trip.
Day 6: Tarangire National Park - Arusha / Moshi
- Non-game-viewing travel time: 2 hours
-Distance: 120 km.
We enjoy an early morning game drive in Tarangire National Park and breakfast at the lodge. Then, we will transfer back to Arusha / Moshi.
